Company History

Dave and Karen Dodd moved to Waihi at the start of 2003 (after only spending a total of eight hours here on their initial visit in late 2002)!

They moved from Upper Hutt in Wellington after purchasing the existing Waihi business McClung Drainage and Underground Services. A very brave step it was to make the decision to sell everything and leave their family and friends down in Wellington and move here to Waihi without knowing a single person. Four weeks later their first baby was born too.

They began business in Waihi by offering a wide range of drainage services including residential and rural drainage, new sewer connections both for the Waihi Beach and Athenree areas who were hooking up to the new sewage system at the time. They also offered the installation of septic tanks, new housing, additions and alterations, truck and digger hire as well as repairs and maintenance to existing drainage.

After a brief stint trying to maintain the image of the business they had bought, with some guidance and trust in a business mentor the decision was made to brand the business with their own identity and move forward into the positive. Hence Dave Dodd Drainage evolved.

This has definitely worked and they have never looked back and their business has evolved naturally from there. Thanks Waihi!!!

Alongside creating their own identity, Dave and Karen complement each other in the business by sharing the same passion and commitment to exceed their customers’ expectations every time. Karen supports Dave in the office with managing the day to day business tasks such as accounts and marketing of the business.

Meanwhile Dave compliments this with his knowledge and expertise and complete and utter devotion and passion to the drainlaying craft.
